Filter the directory yourself by specialty, language, insurance, price, online or in person, and whether they have time this week. Or answer four to six short questions and get three to five people back. That shortlist is built from plain rules, not a model — which is why every name comes with a line saying why it came up. No clinical vocabulary, and no question you have to answer. If you want someone in person, the search works from real coordinates rather than city names, so "near me" means genuinely near you.

What it costs

Surprise charges are the fastest way to lose someone's trust, so there are none. One screen shows the full fee, what leaves your account today, what is left to pay, and what happens if you cancel.

Reminders that respect you
A text and a push notification a day before and a few hours before, each with one-tap confirm, cancel or reschedule. Text is the guaranteed channel, so a reminder never depends on you having notifications switched on.
Changing your mind is easy
Cancel or reschedule at any point, and always see the financial result before you confirm it. Rescheduling offers that therapist's other openings straight away.
Online or in person
Join the room from the app a few minutes before the start, with a camera and microphone test first. Or go to their office — in-person profiles carry a real address and appear when you search near where you live.
A regular slot, if you want one
Sessions can repeat weekly, and you can cancel one occurrence or the whole series. If your therapist is full, join the waiting list for a time range — when a slot frees up you are notified automatically.
Reviews from real clients
Only someone who genuinely had a session through Pexido can review a therapist — the review is tied to a real appointment, so what you read cannot be faked. Reviews are checked for privacy and abuse before publication, never held back for being critical, and if one is declined you are told why and can edit it and send it again.
Reminders reach you even without email
Text is the guaranteed channel, because every account has a verified phone. Signing in, reminders and booking confirmations all work for someone who never gave an email address at all — no critical step depends on one. And a reminder cannot arrive twice, even if two servers try at the same moment.

Message a therapist a quick question before booking, and coordinate afterwards. Messaging stays on scheduling and short questions — the session is where the real conversation belongs.
Your privacy
Booking a therapist means telling a website something you'd tell almost no one.
So here is exactly what happens to it, including the parts most companies leave vague.
Where Pexido sits under HIPAA
Your therapist is the health care provider, and HIPAA applies to them directly. Pexido handles some of that information on their behalf — appointments, intake answers, insurance details — which under HIPAA makes Pexido a business associate, not a provider. Pexido will enter into a Business Associate Agreement with every therapist; that agreement is being drafted now, and no therapist will be onboarded without it.
Encrypted, and kept to a minimum
Insurance member IDs, messages, intake answers and therapist notes are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are stored — an authenticated method, so tampering makes the data fail to open rather than come back quietly altered. Pexido also asks for as little as it can: there is no clinical record here, and therapists are reminded not to put clinical content in notes or messages.
If the look can't be recorded, the look doesn't happen
Staff cannot open a sensitive record without typing a reason first, and the read is written to an append-only log. The part worth knowing: if the system fails to write that log entry, the request fails too. Nobody gets to look at your record in a moment where the recording is broken.
Deleting your account actually deletes it
Your name, contact details, insurance information and saved cards are removed, upcoming appointments are cancelled, every signed-in session is revoked and your devices are dropped. Past appointments and payments stay in the books — a card dispute can arrive months later — but they are no longer attached to your name. Your phone number is freed, so you can start again as a new account.
Reviews: what is and isn't visible
Your name is not shown publicly and your therapist is never told who wrote a review. Pexido keeps an internal record of which review belongs to which appointment, used only to investigate fraud or abuse, to moderate reviews, and where legally required.
Nobody browses your records
Staff access to sensitive records requires a recorded reason, and every access is written to an audit log. And no session is recorded — video will run through a provider chosen on one hard requirement: that it signs a Business Associate Agreement.
No names in texts or notifications
A text message is unencrypted, stored by your carrier, and readable on a lock screen by anyone holding your phone. So Pexido's reminders never carry a name — not yours, not your therapist's — and never describe what the appointment is for. The message tells you something needs attention and sends you into the app, where a sign-in protects the detail.
No password to lose
You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. There is no password stored here, because there is no password. Card and bank details aren't held here either — those stay with Stripe.

Frequently asked
Does Pexido provide therapy?
No. Pexido is a directory and a booking tool. It helps you find a licensed therapist and manages the appointment. The session itself, and everything that follows, is between you and your therapist. Pexido is not a healthcare provider and gives no medical or clinical advice.
What does it cost me to use Pexido?
Nothing. Searching, browsing profiles and reading reviews is free and needs no account. There is no Pexido booking fee on top of a session — you pay your therapist's fee, and nothing extra to us.
Then how does Pexido make money?
Therapists pay a flat monthly subscription to list and to use the scheduling and payment tools. Pexido takes no commission from sessions, which is deliberate: when the platform earns the same whether or not you book, nothing about the search results is tilted by what Pexido would make.
Does Pexido work with my insurance?
Pexido is not contracted with any insurance company and does not file claims. You can record which insurance you have, and Pexido will show you which therapists say they accept it, with a badge on their profile. Your therapist can export a report of your sessions to help complete their own paperwork. Filing and submitting the forms is between you and your therapist.
Can I see a therapist who is in another state?
Therapists are licensed state by state. For an online session, the therapist generally has to be licensed to serve clients in the state where you are at the time of the session. Check that a therapist is licensed in your state before you book — their licence details are shown on their profile. If you move or travel, say so, because it can affect whether a session can go ahead.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Cancelling and rescheduling stay available the whole time, and you always see the financial effect before you confirm — whether that is a full refund or a deduction under the therapist's cancellation policy. That policy is chosen from a small set of clear templates and is shown to you in plain language before you pay, not buried afterwards.
Are video sessions recorded?
No. Video sessions will run through a third-party provider, chosen against one hard requirement: that it signs a Business Associate Agreement covering health information. No session will be recorded or stored, and nobody from Pexido will ever join one.
Can anyone leave a review?
Only someone who actually had a session with that therapist through Pexido, so reviews cannot be faked. Your name is not shown publicly and your therapist is never told who wrote a review. Pexido keeps an internal record of which review belongs to which appointment, used only to investigate fraud or abuse, to moderate reviews, and where legally required. Moderation is for privacy and abuse only — a review is never held back or removed for being critical.
Can I message a therapist before booking?
Yes — you can ask a short question from their profile, and after booking you can message to coordinate. Messaging is deliberately kept to scheduling and short questions; both sides are reminded not to use it for therapeutic content, because the session is where that belongs.
