Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Pexido

Last updated 23 September 2026.

These terms cover pexido.com and the Pexido apps at app.pexido.com. Using Pexido means accepting them. They are written to be understood; where a sentence decides something in our favour, it says so plainly rather than hiding in a clause.

Your privacy is covered separately, in the Privacy Policy.

What Pexido is, and what it is not

Pexido is a directory and a booking, records and payment service for independent licensed therapists. Pexido is not a healthcare provider. We do not provide therapy, diagnosis, treatment or medical advice, and we do not employ, supervise or direct the therapists listed. The care is theirs; the relationship is between you and them.

This is not an emergency service. Nothing on Pexido is monitored in real time. In an emergency call 911. In crisis, call or text 988 for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

We check that a listed therapist holds the licence they claim, in the state they claim it, before their profile is published, and we re-check on a schedule. That is a check of paperwork. It is not a judgement about whether a particular therapist is right for you.

Your account

You must be 18 or over to hold a Pexido account. A young person can be seen through Pexido where their therapist and their guardian arrange it, under that state's rules.

Accounts are personal. You sign in with a code texted to your mobile number, so keep that number current and tell us if you lose control of it. You are responsible for what happens under your account while you hold that number.

Give true information. A false name, a false licence number or a false state is not a small thing here: it decides who may lawfully treat whom, and an account that does it can be suspended.

Booking, changing and cancelling

When you book, the fee, the deposit and the cancellation rule that apply are copied onto that appointment at that moment. A therapist who later changes their prices does not change a booking you already made.

Cancelling follows the rule shown to you before you booked. Two exceptions, both in your favour: if the therapist cancels, you are refunded in full; and if an appointment cannot lawfully go ahead — for example the therapist's authorization for your state lapsed — you are refunded in full whoever cancels it, and if the time passes with it still blocked, Pexido closes it and refunds it without you having to ask.

Therapists set their own availability. Pexido does not guarantee that any particular therapist, time or type of session is available.

Money

Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details never reach Pexido. A charge you make for a session is money paid to the therapist through Pexido, not a payment for care by Pexido.

Pexido does not bill insurance and does not decide coverage. Where a therapist gives you a superbill or a statement, it is a document you may send to your insurer yourself; whether you are reimbursed is between you and them.

Therapists pay Pexido a subscription for the tools they use. That subscription is between the therapist and Pexido, and it is never taken from a client's payment.

Text messages (SMS terms)

Pexido sends text messages for sign-in codes and for things about your own appointments and account. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency depends on your own use of Pexido; there is no fixed schedule. Reply STOP to stop them, HELP for help, and START to turn them back on; because sign-in codes are text messages, stopping them also stops you signing in. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. The full description is in the Privacy Policy.

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Messages you send to a therapist through Pexido are part of their record of your care and are not monitored by Pexido staff in the ordinary course.

Using Pexido decently

Do not use Pexido to:

  • impersonate somebody, or hold an account in another person's name;
  • harass, threaten or abuse a therapist, a client or our staff;
  • scrape, copy or republish the directory, or take profile information in bulk;
  • break into any part of the service, or test its security without our written agreement;
  • post a review of care you did not receive, or ask anyone else to.

Reviews are published as written, moderated only for privacy and abuse. A review is never removed for being critical.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we will say why.

What we do not promise

Pexido is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information a therapist provides about themselves is complete.

We are not responsible for the care you receive. That responsibility sits with the licensed professional who provides it. To the extent the law allows, Pexido's liability to you for anything connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid Pexido in the three months before the claim — which, for a client, is usually nothing, because clients do not pay Pexido.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes, ending, and where disputes go

We may change these terms. If a change matters, we will date it here and tell you in the app before it applies to you.

You may close your account at any time from the app. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and we may end the service itself with reasonable notice — in which case any prepaid subscription is refunded for the part not used, and therapists are given their records in a portable form.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and disputes belong to the courts of that state, unless the law where you live gives you a different right that cannot be waived.
